I am looking for some feedback on the effects of sales conversion when you gear your site to be either more community oriented or commercial oriented. What I am trying to say is...which seems to create a higher sales conversion? I had my site aimed in one direction...then went the other route and noticed a drop in conversion rates. I'm not going to say just yet which I started w/ and which I changed to because I want some unbiased opinions. By community I mean lots of info and interactivity on the site and by commercial I mean guarantees and product reviews. Which is the most effective direction to take?

It's a good question. I would seem to want to go for a balanced approach with both...smile

Who has some experiences with experimenting with different web site emphasis and has measured their ROI from it?

If I understand you correctly, I get the impression you are trying to create a site that is like one of those informercials disguised as a "talk show."

The problem is that you are looking to make sales, and as such are a commercial site, no matter how you "package" it. The community option should be for sites that wish to present information in an unbiased manner, without thought of profiting from the sale of whatever they are covering.
