Hi,
I've been analysing the currently available server stats packages (live) and thought I'd give you quick overview of my findings;
LiveStats - good interface, wide stats range however does not report 'unique visitors' which really is a let down - thats the only reason I wouldn't buy it.
Webtrends - Wow! everything you need, covers all aspects of marketing tracking etc and you can measure more or less anything! .. However, way out of many peoples budgets
DeepMetrix - easy to use interface, wide stats range but simply keeps crashing and visitor information is inaccurate.
Urchin - I simply can't get it working but it looks as if this would be the one I would go for if I could...everything you need with a brilliant interface and available at a reasonable price.
So, after hours of research I have failed to find a decent package below my $1000 budget...any ideas?
Many thanks, please advise!

If you're budget conscious perhaps you should consider a web based solution hosted elsewhere. I've used Hitslink.com for many years and have been pleased with them.

My experience with urchin hasn't been good. It doesn't track very well. I run it and webtrends and webtrends picks up 3 times the data.

I recommend Webfunnel. It is completely free and incredibly accurate and robust. It takes a little getting use to but it is a great tool. AWStats is also another one I have used and is certainly a decent tool, but my personal preferences keep taking me back to Webfunnel.

leejack, the real question is what are you looking for your stats package to give you? Are you looking for general overall numbers? Or do need highly accurate data that you can drill down into?
Are you looking to get data on lifetime value of users? Do you need to drill down to see behaviors of users from various referrers?
If your answer is...I just want some basic stats, go with a free package, I like to drill down big time, so I never use free tools. If you are going to make important business decisions based on your stats...it is worth it to get a good package.
These packages in the 500-1500 dollar range all do the same thing...the value is typically in the analysis, the tools aren't too different from one another, every one has its little sets of features, but at the core many just do the same thing.

"My experience with urchin hasn't been good."
Are comparing Urchin 5 with WebTrends 8.0?
My understanding is that the problems experienced by earlier versions of Urchin were fixed with V5.
leejack27, Clicktracks is an interesting product you may want to examine and test.
