Hello All,
The subject says it all. I am curious if any of you can think of an inexpensive but effective way to advertise a web dev/IT job search site that offers free job posting? In particular, I am interested in reaching as many potential employers as possible.
Thanks a lot,
James

Advertise on business.com... you can target pretty well. It's on a CPC basis, and although you may not get a ton of clicks, you'll get clicks from the right people. Also, check out some of the free sites out there and post jobs, making sure you have a link to your job site.

clickhere,
Thanks a lot! Both are good ideas. I'll try out business.com soon. As for posting jobs linking to my site, I would only feel comfortable doing it if I was linking to a job posted by myself (there is none such job currently).
Best,
James

try some professional groups in your area too. i know the one i belong to has an email list and since people are looking for jobs right now that would be a good one to target. most will let you advertise for free or charge you a very small amount. you should also be able to reach employers that way too.

theresaw,
Thanks so much. Great advice! I don't have a mailing list in mind but will be certainly consider this option--seems like a great way to get your message out.
If you (or anyone else) can think of a mailing list/proffesional group that would consider such advertising, I'd be happy to hear about it.
Take care,
James

madeonmoon,
Since your service is free, it's hard to justify spending money to attract posters. I'm assuming your planning on charging employers once you've built up your database?
I personally feel your money would be better spent on attracting people searching for jobs. Obviously before you start spending money attracting people searching for jobs, you need to have enough job postings. I'm not sure of your situation, but is it a new site? Do you currently have any jobs listed?
Have you tried contacting recruiting companies and offering them your service? You could also just buy a newspaper, browse through the classifieds for related companies and pick up the phone. Simple and cheap!

searchmob,
yeah, the post *is* old but i got your feedback. thanks a lot!
yeah, the service is free and i would not mind spending a few bucks a month for the site to grow (once it's big advertising money will start coming in).
your ideas are good though--i'll see what i can do!
best,
james

One of my sites is a jobboard and we can exchange links...I have high traffic. However, I don't know how to tell you the url since you aren't supposed to put urls in the messages.
