Hello All,
I run a small forum site,visualbasicscript.com , it's small but it has regular posters and new registrations are coming every day. People come to this forum are interested in Vbscript and WSH script.
From what I know Vbscript is dying slowly , not sure though as I haven't upgraded my technical skill for years.
What should I do to retain my current members and visitors?. It crossed my mind to setup a new general programming forum site with new domain name with vbscript and .net categories in it and redirect my members and visitors to the new site where they can still discuss VBScript and WSH.
Since most of my members and visitors are MS based technical guys , I hope they will also post topic in new .net categories.
What do you think all?. I need advice and suggestions from you all because I can't just let this site dying slowly doing nothing.
Thx,
Andy

I think you're definitely on the right track. As technologies evolve, obviously the communities that discuss those technologies must evolve with them. The fact that you're aware of this probably means that you'll be fine in the long run.
I'd take a fairly extensive look at the threads in your forums, and see what the most frequently discussed "off-topic" threads are about, and decide if moving in that direction is a good idea.
In addition, why not ask your members where they think your section of the programming industry is going, so that they can give you suggestions on what topics might get the best discussions going? Often times, a community's members are it's best asset when choosing a new direction.
