Hi..first off, the site in question, is built using the templates from Network Solutions (www.nsi.com). Now, they are thinking about putting an ad in a major national magazine with a circulation of over 1 million. How can the results from the ad be known? it seems impossible to know because how does someone know if the traffic came from a search engine or the ad? someone told me something about adding something like (for example) www.xyz.com/ad tracker code...but this can't be done using the Network Solutions Templates..any other suggestions?

No one would bother typing www.xyz.com/ad tracker code
You might get away with www.xyz.com/sale/
But that isn't necessary, all that's needed is the average traffic numbers, and you simply watch what happens after the ad launch. You subtract the average from that, and you have your answer.

To track the results from a magazine, you can buy a new domain (i.e. nsi2.com) then you can re-direct it to your main domain. Then you just check on your logs how many people typed in nsi2.com and presto. Generally, people make a lot of mistakes when typing in an adress, so you want to KISS.

Yes, that's true. In fact I'm so good at it, I'm wealthy beyond measure. I only hang around Internet boards to stay connected to all the "little people" such as yourself.
And yet, the BIGGEST thing I've learned in life has nothing to do with the Internet. Would you like to know the most important thing that I've learned in my life?
