After having a look at SplitHit, and deciding it wasn't what I wanted, I'm still searching for a program to split test my website(s).
Anyone out there had any experience with this who can give me a recommendation?

Hi Juliep, hope this info is still of help to you... here are two products that I have seen (not used):
Optimost
SiteSpect
I saw both at a recent tradeshow. Not sure if this is whta you're looking for but it's worth considering.
greetings,
Monty

Split test = A/B testing = "show different versions of your site to visitors and see which one yields the most sales/leads/clicks/etc."

If this is creating mirrored-like sites, and the search engines figure it out, you'll be hooped in the organic listings.
Wouldn't it be just as easy to simply create site A, then set up site B as a subdomain or something similar - keeps it all real for the engines, and doesn't require software.
If you're marketing the siteand driving traffic into the seperate sites, simply leave out any internal links between the two sections.
If you're only marketing one site, though, but need to show the site twice, I can see the dilemma.
Regardless, this strikes me as not 100% kosher. (Just my opinion, I'm not judging here)
I still think the best route is - develop the site, watch the data/stats tweak as necessary.

I think the point of these products is to customize the site to the users, not to the search engines. I have read however that using alot of javascript could harm SEO. Not sure if this is a problem but I know someof the testing products use javascript to switch the content... so do your research
