Adware and Parasites - CJ (Commission Junction) Cleans House?
Just blogged about this yesterday but its good news to know so thought I would post it here.
According to a recent article in MarketWatch CJ dropped the infamous 180Solutions earlier this year and is tightening the noose around other parasite and adware type affiliates. Jeff Pullen, EVP says only 5% of revenue at CJ comes from download applications (ie. adware). I think many affiliates and managers would dispute that number.
"180Solutions was in violation of our code of conduct," said Pullen. "They were kicked out," earlier this year… An affiliate of 180Solutions, Seismic, was sued by the FTC for unfair and deceptive marketing practices…"
Here is the MarketWatch article about it.

Linda, could you do us a favor and shorten that URL to a link? I'm wondering how John's URL filter missed that one... hmmm...
Good find. Now they just got to set a stricter standard for eBates and not allow them to poach affiliate commissions. It's a start though with 180solutions—I'll take that

I think it's too late. Most spyware removal programs just blocks all access to anything at cj.com. When I sign up as affiliate there I spend couple of days to be able to ge to the website through my antispyware protection.
