Someone in my company asked me if I knew the total number of potential Internet shoppers that are our there in 2005, across all industries. Just an overall number... can anyone come up with an estimated number for me?
Thank you

you might want to check websites that share demographics, statistics and surveys. Most of them are paid, but generic information is available for free.
www.jupiterresearch.com (paid service) is one such place where you'll get good data.
www.clickz.com, www.shop.org (i'm sure there are more) - you could find them useful.
I don't know if it can be realistically calculated how many people shop online. You might easily get figures for total internet sales done($43 billion in 2004 I read somewhere) but for people who access internet (or do shopping online) you might ony get a percentage figure since such data depends on surveys.
If you are keen, such deductions can be made based on percentage of population - I'm sure someoe must have done it - although I ahven't come across a figure for that.
