We have a site that is dedicated to a medical clinic - the goal is to atract patients. It is not very nice right now visually, no graphics. If we put money into graphics should that increase our client volume?

It may in that it could make the site appear more professional. patients, I think, would liek to feel they are about the recieve the highest care possible - a clean, professional looking site is a must, IMO.
Graphics can add very much needed visual punch to a site - just keep them clean, quick loading and relevant.
Generally, when folks read stuff online, they scan it, rather than read every work, like a book.
Images draw the human eye to areas of importance, and can often explain something much faster than two paragrachs of text.
Keep the text broken up, too - short paragraphs, often two to three sentences long, seem to work best - white space is your friend.
