Well, ok, I admit to being an idiot. When I clicked on the "Unlimited Articles
3 Months $39.95" link I thought I was buying 3 months. Didn't realize that I was buying a subscription and only paying for the first 3 months.
So when after 3 months rolled by and I found my paypal account debited for another 3 months I immediately cried foul. I'd only used the service 3 or 4 times, wasn't all that thrilled with it, and had no intention of using it again.
Now most companies would be gracious about issuing an immediate refund under such a situation as this. It's an obvious misunderstanding and an honest error, and all they had to do was check my file to see that I hadn't even used their service in over 6 weeks.
But no.
What I got was a song and dance about it being out of their control. "PayPal sets the rules for subscriptions and we're bound by their practices."
That's a load of crap. I know it. You know it. And they know it. Anyone with a PayPal account can issue credits or send money to anyone with an email address. They don't need PayPal's permission.
So I caution any of you out there to be careful about doing business with this firm. And if you do sign up for the 3 month option, make sure you cancel before the end of the 3 month period if you don't want to be zapped for another $39.95.

Next time you buy something you might want to read the terms before complaining.
I haven't used that site, but if they have recurring billing, I'd be very surprised if it's not spelled out on the site. You also should have gotten email from Paypal indicating you started a subscription, another clue that you'd be billed again later.
You're right in that they could always refund you anyway- Paypal certainly does not prohibit them from doing that. I'm not condoning them denying a refund, just suggesting that people read the terms when they buy something. Otherwise it's like signing a contract you haven't read.
