I am thinking about joining burst media to earn an extra buck to help maintain my website. My website is eligable according to their rules. HERE IS THE QUESTION: I am NOT a business and don't plan on starting one. Can I still join?? Or do I have to be a business?Regards

I just discoverd a great site. I may be the only one who didn't know this one but take a look at AskMe.comIf you need a moderator, just look there. This are people who have give up theirselves to answer questions. I'm sure that most of them would be glad to be a moderator if they have interests in your topic. I was looking for a (horse) vet and I found a lot of experts there. Hope this can be of any help for you. P.S. I really like this forum. Great help and advice

My e-zine is starting to grow. I'm looking for an cgi script that can handle 5000 emails + and that doesn't cost much. Under $25 Any suggestions?

The holidays are approaching! Now is the time to start planning your holiday promotions: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hannukah, and all the others... It's time to start thinking about your sweepstakes, contest, instant-win game, quizzes, coupons, and all the other online promotion tools that you can use in this upcoming season. Early planning and plenty of time to promote them will help make your holiday promotion a success!

There are tons of scripts at these two sites, you can try looking at http://www.hotscripts.com http://www.perlarchive.com to start getting a few general ideas. I don't know of any scripts in particular, except maybe e-lists or subscribe me. Thought on these two? Seen a better one?

Hi WinningWays,We have a funny poetry web site and some one gave us the idea of having a contest for the funniest poem of the month. They suggested an entry fee of $5 and the best poem wins $1,000. As this is our first time at this what are your ideas ... would it work.... would it be considered as a scam....??? Appreciate your comments Thanks Arcadia

My sites only about a month old or so, and before I had my site submitted to any directories or engines I would get most of my hits from forums. My site has only been listed in a few engines and directories a week or so now, but I'm getting a good number of visitors from sites like Google, Ask Jeeves, Ask Jeeves for kids, and a few more educational sites.I'm hoping with a few tweaks here and there the next spidering and update from google and other engines the visitors will increase.

As long as your site meets their current criteria and they think they can sell space on it. It is definately worth applying.

I looked into the e-lists and subscribe-me scripts. I love subscibe-me Professional it has all the features I want, but it costs way to much. The free edition has less of the features. I expected that.E-lists looks great and have had good experiences using the scripts by Ron Wooley before. I wish Ron had a sample admin to go through on his site. He also does not mention what size lists his script can handle. Perhaps I missed this info though. There are so many scripts out there. I wish I knew which ones have been used successfully by webmasters and which ones aren't worth my time. I wonder what Jim Wilson uses for the JimWorld Gazette? And could I afford it. QD

Hi Arcadia, I think a contest with funny poetry would be a HUGE success! Anything with a upbeat attitude right now is going to be soooo welcome. That being said, ANY contest with an entry fee is not going to do well. Although, before the creation of the Internet, entry fees in traditional contests were accepted, in the online world, they are completely suspect, and not many people will enter. If you are willing to do the contest without the entry fee, I whink you will have MUCH more success with your promotion than if you try to administer it with an entry fee. If you're selling something at your site like a book of funny poetry or something, you might want to consider offering every entrant a discount or coupon or something in return for entering your contest. You can still make money with every entry... Entry fees don't typically do well online. I'd try to think outside of the box and find some other way to make it enticing for people to enter...

they'll must likely accepted you then. you'll probably make around $1.50 per 1,000 page views unless you have a webmaster related website, then more $. they are terrible at selling premium ads, unless you have a webmaster related website. however, they do pay, which can't be said for the all too many internet ad companies.good luck [This message has been edited by fairhousing (edited 07-23-99).]

I'm pretty sure that Jim is using http://www.lyris.com for the Gazette. I've been using the "free" version of Subscribe me and its working pretty good, I haven't had any problems with it at all. I just started to upload the E-Lists from Ron Wooley the other day to test it out since it seems like it can do much more than Subscribe me. I'm not sure but I think if you visit http://www.everyone.net and subscribe to their newsletter they're using Subscribe me Professional. The confirmation page looks similar to mine, (without the maintained by Subscribe me tag at the bottom of course). That says alot for the professional version, since as of last Oct, their EBiz Update newsletter had around 230,000 subscribers. I could be mistaken about the scripts and the number of subscribers.. but..

Think I maybe answered this already, or at least in part... http://gethighforums.com/Forum1/HTML/000830.html Like anything in this world... you won't find any magic "secret" answers... Getting top 10 listing in a search engine isn't as important as good content, good design, and good promotion. Eventually, many people will come to you because your site is a GOOD source for what they're looking for... they'll tell their friends, they'll keep coming back.
