If you are running a small site with a limited budget who offers the best hosting plans?? I have used ipowerweb.com before and found it is shocking and unrealiable! Any suggestions?

I use www.your-site.com
Not a great service and you have to pay extras for things but it's fairly cheap.
I have a server of my own too but hey thats different :P

There are a number of things to consider when you say "best hosting plans." Naturally the first thing that comes to mind is cost. However, is that really the first, and foremost thing to be concerned with? To me it isn't. Because in many cases (and I am thinking the $7.95 a month, or $34.95 a month with 5 free pages etc plans) you get what you pay for. Issues to be concerned with are reliability, security (virus updates etc.) speed, redundancy, platform compatability, support, storage, bandwidth, and services included (ftp capabilities, unlimited e-mail aliases, daily back-ups etc.)
We have picked up several clients who were hosted on "cheap" plans and found that they couldn't make changes to their site without paying a considerable fee, or could only have one e-mail alias. And of course there is the reliability issue, where their sites were offline as often as they were on.
All that said, a good plan shouldn't cost more than $15-$25 US a month. And most small business sites, images included, can fit on a 1.4mg floppy, so storage space, and bandwidth are usually not an issue. Do some research, speak with clients of any hosting company to check on uptime, support etc, and most importantly READ ALL THE FINE PRINT on the contract!

I am using maxipointservers.net and I am only paying $25 for the domain and nothing for the hosting.
I have been using them for almost a year and I had no problems. The downside is that in this package there is only 20 mb of space wich is hardly enough but then again it is not that expencive to buy some extra space.

I have several small sites with digitalspace.net and have been pleased with them. You get all the bells and whistles [except log files are short version so worthless], SSI, php, perl, mysql, etc. $36/year.

Well I just tried digitalspace and found them to be singularly unco-operative and generally not much cop . In fact the whole experience was pretty unpleasant.

I use PHPWebHosting.com for all my sites, monthly payments of $9.95 which isn't quite as cheap as some of the other value hosts, but still not bad. They seem to be more geared towards people that know how to run a site -- not very much basic help, but they are great with their PHP and MySQL (they have every PHP addon you would ever want installed, and if they don't they will probly add it for you if you ask). I have only had to deal with their tech support a couple times, and they were helpfull on both occassions. They have no transfer, storage or pop account limits -- they just ask you to "keep it within reason" and they won't hassle you, that is a total deal breaker for me.

I am trying out mesopia at the moment. Their $3.95 monthly plan will give you 200M with 10G transfers. It will also host multiple domain and allows you to set up OS Commerce, Agora cart at the click of a switch. Another similar service is mysitesonline, their support is very knowledgeable and helpful.
