I am confused on domain name legal issues. Help me with this example...
If you are trying to sell Brittany Spears merchandise, is it okay to purchase the domain name www.brittanyspearsmerchandise.com and sell products of her off that site?

If the domain name includes a registered trademark (most likely the name in your example has a registered trademark on it), then the owner of the registered trademark can come after you. If they don't sue you for damages, then they can take the domain name away from you through a formal request process at iCANN.
