I do some web design for a client who in turn resells my services as their own. They have requested that I put together a shopping cart system that is easy to use and can easily integrate into an existing site design.
Can anyone recommend a good hosted solution and/or software package to evaluate? I need something that can be private labeled or contains very little advertising. I would also like a solution that is as easy as creating links for a product...no crazy scripting or having to edit templates, etc. to get the thing to work.
I have had very little luck with finding a package that is cheap, simple, yet does the job and is very reliable. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Have you checked out MonsterCommerce? They are affordable, and you can customize it to the hilt! Their customer service is TOP notch too. That is who I use, and they are amazing, I have never been happier!

Although I have yet to build a store in it, I am fairly impressed with Bizar Shop from bizarsoftware.com as a cross platform cart (uses Zope) which can be hosted on any server.
"cheap, simple, yet does the job and is very reliable." Presumably therefore, you don't have requirements for features such as upselling, coupons, discounts based on order size, multiple shipping rates etc. etc. If so, then you are probably going to be disappointed.
If you want a cart that will do those things that is cheap, does the job and is very reliable, then Miva Merchant (offered as a hosted service by many webhosts)should be considered. However, it fails big time on your requirement of "simple". It is somewhat simple if you are prepared to accept their crappy standard pages (similar to a 1994 style of shopping cart). If you don't want a 1994 shopping cart look and feel, then learning how to modify Miva is far from simple, due to the pathetically organized cart administration and documentation. It is however, a very strong cart, with many powerful features.
