I have a web business that I started that is still crawling along. Spending hours & hours with keywords & searching for reciprocal links. Do you really have to pay now for AdWords & other things to do well or is it just impatience on my part?

What do you need to do (not interested in pay per click) to be successful these days? Any critiques of my website would be really kind & helpful!

    Thanks & best wishes.

Thanks very much Jenn for your reply & letting me know where my site may be critiqued. The purpose of my site is to offer art work that expands the idea of what sacred is & the unity of the whole spiritual/physical reality that we live in. So it's really threefold. To offer art, different thoughts on a number of topics & to do well financially that I may travel to find my own unique artists & create a form of social & economic development in that realm.
The difficulties I'm having are sporadic sales. I think my main question is does one still concentrate on adding rich text & finding reciprocal links for the search engines to find you? Or do you have to be spending money in all directions with no guarantee of any outcome to get sales these days?

Thanks very much for your time.

I can't comment of ppc models, paying for placement etc... I've not experimented with this route. Instead I've been sluging it out like you!

I noticed two big things about your site:
    1. Lack of content: Most of yor pages seem to be a series of internal links followed by pictures of products. I'm not sure what levels of traffic you get, but you may want to add more pages of text with each page focused on a specific topic ... I see you have some pages like this, but more would be helpful

    2. Navigation issues: Your menus are confusing. You have three different ones on your home page ...the text at the top, the text at the side and the thumbnails and they are all different. I have no idea what your product categories are. Also, it is not obvious that I need to click on a picture to order it! Then once I'm in your shopping cart, I can't figure out how to go back and browse some more. You want to make browsing and ordering as simple as possible for your visitors.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your efforts.
