Is anyone successfully SELLING niche subject ebooks or special reports that are NOT about internet-marketing? A few "Internet Marketing Gurus" recommend this as a profitable internet business. I would be very interested in hearing your experiences or comments. Thanks!

This post got no replies, so I hope it did not sound too negative. I did not mean it to be 
Basically, I am interested in creating a ebook about a niche subject. But the niche subject websites I have seen seem to give away the information for free and rely on advertising for revenue. An exception I have noticed is Internet Business related information. People seem to be selling that information directly.
So, does anybody have examples of home business people who have created a website which is mostly aimed at selling their ebooks? I have not been able to find many examples.
Do you think trying to sell a niche market ebook is a good business idea?

Yes, you can sell information online. However, ONE ebook about a niche subject is unlikely to create a substantial income. There is ample information online that explains how the Internet marketers who ARE making money do it.
Basically, the first step is to build a mailing list to which you send a regular newsletter that consists of about 70% information and 30% product offers.
You won't make much money selling ONE ebook, but if you create an ever growing list and offer that list a new product once or twice a month you will gradually create an income.
The subsequent products don't have to be created by you - you can offer related products from other people. But the key is building a list and selling the same people over and over.
That is how the successful Internet marketers make money.
