I’m wondering if anyone could give me a some advice. I’d like to start a (primarily) content site for profit, but I am going crazy trying to find a niche! I just have no idea how to evaluate the profitability of a given topic. I go back and forth between Overture’s search inventory and Google trying to analyse supply and demand for various keywords, but keep getting results like 27 searches (i mean, it was searched 27 times) at Overture and 3 million sites at Google (so is that too narrow a niche or too broad?).
My goal is 1000USD a month (selling a service, an affiliate or two, and later information products) and I’m absolutely willing to work twelve-hour days get there, but naturally I don’t want to pour time and energy into a topic that’s doomed anyway. How do I know if a niche is profitable? How many searches ought a topic get at Overture to be considered a viable niche? How much competition is too much? Could even a fairly narrowly focused site make 1000USD a month?
I will name my first-born child after anyone who can give me some advice on how to tell a profitable niche from a waste of time. (Well, maybe not, but I’ll be very grateful!)
Thanks in advance!
M.K.

Well, I have a niche research tool.Hint for free: Look for the higher percentage values, you,ll see how much demand there is for the niche and how little or much competition there is.The higher the percentage, the better.
