Friends:
Five months ago while flying from Capetown to Buenos Aires, I read
"The Perfect Market," a survey of e-commerce from the Economist
Magazine.
That article got me interested in making a living on the internet.
t
Since that time I have been doing a lot of travelling, (India,Ukraine)
looking at e commerce ideas and doing a lot of research.
Lots of material on the net, some free, some not, but my question today
ladies and gentlemen of this forum is
what is the best book or website which give a new comer the big picture,
on how to make a living in e commerce. There must be a classic on this
subject by some person who isn't trying to sell something.
many thanks

My personal opinion is that Site Build It offers the most complete system for creating an online income.
Disclosure: I am an affiliate of this program; however, I would never recommend anything I don't truly believe will work.
I am currently going through their ten day process to create a new site for a friend. It is far more complex and complete than even I expected.
The reason I believe this is the way to go is that the system has everything required to build and promote an online business without having to learn Web design.
One critical element to online success is building a mailing list which is the most valuable asset of the most successful online businesses.
The system includes an automated mailing list and newsletter management. Other features are integrated Pay Per Click ad submission, shopping cart software, and most anything else necessary to build and promote an online business.
(Note that some are included in the base price and I believe some require payment of additional fees.)
Perhaps even more important is that they lead you through keyword research to determine whether your idea is economically feasible before you invest the time and money building it.
This process also allows you to possibly find niches within the subject you're interested in that have more economic potential than your original idea.
Although you can learn the same things by studying ecommerce and do everything their system does, integrating all of the parts required can be an expensive headache to implement.
If you're the do it yourself type I believe if you can understand what they're teaching that you could build and control the entire project and achieve far better results than you would turning it over to someone who doesn't know your business the way you do.
Of course if you have the budget and can afford to hire the best that would be easier.
Even if you don't, if copywriting and design aren't your strengths you may want to enlist assistance (either paid or from friends, this forum, etc.) to ensure the very best results.
