I am looking for a search engine friendly shopping cart where metatags for different pages can be easily modified. I prefer PHP based version. Thanks for your suggestions.

There are lots but many won't suit your business. How about a few more details? eg. how many categories and how many products? Do you want real time complex shipping calculations and real time payment processing? What other " advanced" features do you want?

Most shopping carts and forums need extensive rework to make them search engine friendly. None are ready to use "as is", right out of the box, in my opinion.
Many do not have custom meta tags per page, but worse still, most have multiple URLs that can access the same content: and duplicate content causes a lot of issues when trying to get a site indexed.

On this same subject, what about carts that are hosted offsite and use hyperlinks as Buy Now or Add to Cart text instead of a shopping cart that creates the whole page. Then your pages can be SE friendly.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
