Can anyone enlighten me as to what paid inclusion is as far as UK search engines are concerned. I know that some search engines now or in the future are loking to charge an annual fee for inclusion in the search engines.

However, is it true that they will soon be charging everyone a flat PPC fee, of say 10p per click.eek

There are no UK search engines that force you to pay for inclusion. The main engines that do have a paid inclusion option are currently Ask Jeeves UK, Mirago and Yahoo (via US SiteMatch). AJ is dropping paid inclusion at the end of September in the US and I would assume the same thing will happen in the UK - both Mirago and Yahoo web pages will naturally crawl the web without a need for PFI.

So there is no compulsion for you to pay - unless you want faster inclusion. There certainly is no plan to charge all site owners 10p per click!

Now, getting in the directories without paying is a different issue.
