I heard that they are only going to be making minor esthetic changes. I heard that it will still be a Yahoo Inktomi feed. Is this correct

I am new to all this SE "stuff" - can someone please explain what this is all about - is it good, bad or ugly ?
Does this new SE with MSN mean google/adsense will die?
Much Appreciated,
Beth

beth_lk, it means that now we will have to put up with MSNbot jamming up our servers with its greedygreedy scavenging.
Plus ... now we can pay for 3 PPC programs, instead of only 2!

Well I took a look at MSN search just now. I don't see anything "new" about it yet.

Let me help clarify.
It's not live at search.msn.com and introduced to the general public. That is to come before the end of january.
Today is the launch of the beta from a previous 'techpreview'. The 'beta' launch which is along the lines of the previous techpreview may be viewed here
[link]
There are some functions of interest - although not necessarily new since the techpreview - including a SearchBuilder function which allows you to 'personalize' your results. Select searchbuilder, and then Result Rankings to adjust/weight the search engine results by popularity, match, and how recent the results are. Adjust them and play around to see the type of results based on various weights.
There is also a "Near Me" local function which does not require user input but is based on browser ip ... and other functions as well if you dig around.
On a side note, MSN Search team also launched a new blog yesterday

Following the trail of google's & yahoo's
psst - StupidScript2. i know you're grumpy about the msnbot activity crashing your hosting but most are happy to have free listings. is it still an issue? Also I'm not sure this means 3 ppc versus 2 as you mention because the beta launch is algorithm based versus ppc. Has it been confirmed a ppc is coming also from msn?

I have noticed them being diiferent for a while. I believe. MSN does not use Yahoo's Sitematch listings, and Directory. I think that is what makes them different.

No fears, MSN resigned with Overture, renewed contract 1 year, will be on Overture until July 2006.

"Great news. Bring it on."
I agree, unreviewed -- we need more competition in the search engine field -- 2 major players is not enough. I liked it better in the old days when we had half a dozen engines, each feeding results to about an equal number of web surfers. So I wish MS luck, hope it's a decent service, and would love to see one more big player step onto the field in the next couple years...
