Hi,

How often should I bid in Google Adwords? Is there any submission limits (how many times I can bid in certain period) in Adwords? I read somewhere (forgot where) talking about that I can't bid in certain time after my previous bids. But I forgot it's Google or Overture. Too many information and I mix them up. :D

I tried to search relating posts in forum, but not very useful.

Thanks

Overture limits the number of times a computer program can automatically change your bids. There is no limit to how many times you can manually change them at either Google or Overture.

However, although Google has repeatedly assured me that bud changes do not affect your ads and do not have to be approved, I am not the only person who has reported seeing volume drop after bid changes.

For this reason, you may not want to be changing your Google bids as frequently as you may wish to change your Overture bids.

At Overture, better results can be obtained by changing bids whenever you lose the position you wish to target. Since bidding at Google doesn't ensure any particular position, changing bids isn't as precise nor needed as frequently there.

The other reason it is not as critical is that there is a much wider range of bids available to ensure your ad is seen at Google (8-10 positions on the first page) than there are at Overture (where some partners take only the first two, three or six ads).

Thanks flyingrose,

I am using a SEO software to manage my ads at Adwords and Overture. I update my bids in Overture everytime when I find my positions are lower than expected. So the updating frequency varies, sometimes tight but sometimes loose.

According to what you saying, Overture has a limit for automatic submission software. I worry that I may exceed its limition sometimes. What is the exact limits in Overture? What will Overture do to me if I exceed the limition?

Thanks

I believe the limit for automated bid management is currently once an hour. I suspect that if that limit applies to the method you're using it just won't accept the bid change and you'll probably get a message telling you that.

Visiting the FAQs on the Web site for the management software you're using would probably provide a more definitive answer.
