A major obstacle to financial success online is incorrectly choosing where to place our focus and efforts. One way to get clear on what is most important is to start with a clear goal.
When using PPC, an excellent goal for most businesses is for it to first be self-supporting and then to drive an ever increasing amount of profitable sales.
While you may have to invest some money up front and any time you decide to test new products, sites, or ideas you want to limit your risk and focus on generating enough profit to pay for the advertising costs and possibly consulting fees.
All decisions on how much to spend on advertising and consulting are best made based on RESULTS. Although you may have to start with the amount of money you can afford to invest, when your PPC is self-supporting decisions on increasing spending can be made based on profitability.
For example, if you are generating $2 in profit for every $1 you spend on advertising costs including consulting fees, how many times would you like to double your money?
If you advertising is more than paying for itself even though you are not managing your bid costs or expanding your reach you will definitely be spending more than is optimum and limiting your profitability unnecessarily.
These are issues I see regularly which many continue even when they are aware of them.
