Okay, so Google Help is useless.

I emailed support only to get a form response. When I replied to the form stating that they had not even addressed my question at all, they replied stating to read the original email they sent me. ARRRGG...

Anyways, here is my question. Its really a simply yes/no answer.

If I have the destination URL set as www.site.com, and put the converstiontracking code on another TLD www.sitecart.com, will the tracking ID still trigger a conversion?

I ask this becauses the conversion point is on the shopping cart on another TLD, but it does not make any sense with the ads to have the destination URL go directly into the cart.

So, will the converston code work on a domain if other than the main destination tld?

Many thanks

Usually the tracking code would be placed on a "Thank You" page that the buyer is redirected to AFTER the sale is completed. That page is normally on the original domain.

I don't recall ever having it on a different domain so I do not know if it will work. If you have some reason for wanting to do it that way I would simply put the code on the page in question and either do a test sale or wait long enough for some sales to come in and find out.

If you decide to do that please post and let others know for future reference.

Thanks for your reply. Yes this is a strange situation with the cart entirely off site. I will try to test it and we'll see what happens.

It would certainly be nice if Google would give me a Yes/No answer. I guess the short of it is they dont know?

Makes sense to me that it would work as that conversion code is unique to the account, and the cookies stay long enough that it should still trigger it - but in reality what makes sense isnt always the way it is.

Carts are usually entirely off site and then return buyers back to your site when the purchase is complete. The shopping cart portion of the site must be secure. You will see https:// instead of http:// before the domain name.

The main reason that "canned" answers are frequently not helpful is that they either don't completely address the question or they do answer the question but the person receiving the answer doesn't know enough about how the system works to understand the answer as given.

That is one of the main reasons I answer questions here. An answer that specifically answers exactly what someone asks is almost always more helpful than trying to locate an answer that may or may not be the right one in a help file somewhere.
