Hi all,

Just out of curiosity; when you add your negative keywords for your campaigns, do you add them all within the Campaign Settings of each Campaign (and) or (or) withing the Ad Groups list of keywords with a (-) in front of each keyword?

If the negative keywords can apply to every ad group add them at the campaign level. If they would block one or more positive keywords in ANY ad group in that campaign they have to be added at the ad group level.

Giving some advance thought to how you organize your account can save time by allowing you to use more negatives at the campaign level.

Just a thought in passing, but you should be a little cautious with negative keywords if you are appearing on the content network, as you can miss out on some quite good sites, particularly if your negative keywords are quite generic words...

Thank you for that insight custardmite. Since I rarely use the content network I don't know nearly as much detail on precisely how it works.

I do recommend that advertisers run search and content in separate campaigns so that results can be tracked separately.
