I've got this program that will submit my website to the search engines...well the 'major' ones, and um, It's set up to submit every 30 minutes.

I lease the program for about $89 a month, dirt cheap.

Should I turn it up a little bit, maybe...errr, say, every 15 minutes? If I pump up the 'volume', will I get better rankings in the search engines?
(by the way, I'm only concerned with the top 100 search engines...you know, the 'major' ones.)

    PLEASE HELP!laugh

Do not submit every fifteen minutes, nor everyday, nor once a week. The only thing that might happen from that volume of submissions is getting your ip addresed blocked. My advice, if you submit once and get in that is all you need (that has worked for me). Concentrate on getting good links and you won't have to worry about submissions. If you want to be on the safe side I would say submit once a every one-two months.

    No.

You get what you pay for, something that can get your ip banned.

That's what my SEO told me to do.
If someone told me this, I would seriously distrust anything that SEO sayd after that. Can you please point me to the site of your "SEO"? I would like to use that as an example.

No, I think it would block or ignore the submission IP address you use.

Aight, for the record, I never intended this post to be anything but light hearted.

I don't know why it got moved to the pro seo issues when I put it in the members lounge.

Shoot! I'm sure a good programmer could submit your site 15 times a second if you have the bandwidth smile

    C'mon guys, I don't use a program to submit.

(I do it by HAND, every 2 days.)

You see, the search engines(well, the 'major' ones), update their indexes, and if you forget to submit, you'll be lost in shuffle.

    AHhhh!
I havn't submitted to the "the 'major' ones" in over 3 days.
    I competely forgot.

Any tips on how to get back on track? Submit twice as hard? (that reminds me of a dream I had the other night)

Jeez I thought you were being serious for once.

For the noobs here, search engines will find you! You don't need to submit to search engines at all. If it makes you feel better to have submitted, then do it just the once.

On the other hand, for directories you really should submit to the most popular dozen international directories (read each ones guidelines very carefully first), as well as to smaller directories that cover your local area in general, or cover your industry or profession on a national or local basis.

Don't forget to sign any guestbook you may stumble on.

Guestbooks is the newest thing, I've been trying to keep it a secret, but the truth behind SEO is simply guestbooks and submission tools.

    wow! great thinking!

but i got one even better. well ... i got this really cool guestbook script. So i'll set up my own guestbook and sign it 1.5M times and THEN i'll submit the guestbook as often as I can. My programmer friend has 100Mbit connection an said that submiting 20 times a second wouldn't be a problem ... great ah?
