Hello friends
I have registered my website on all top search engines. The web pages are content rich but still don’t have expected traffic. How can I increase traffic?

RE: You've registered your website on all top search engines... have you verified keyword placement/ results ? And have you compared the search phrases used to get to your site in comparison with the keywords/ keyphrases you are targeting? I would suggest first off that you verify the results of what you have already done, before moving on to something else.
I'm not sure if it's allowed to post here, but marketleap dot com has a really cool free tool you can use to see if your pages (based on your own keywords/keyphrases are showing up in the first 3 pages of the top 10 (I think) search engine results. Honestly, I'd start there.
If your results are showing what you expected (ie. showing up on the top set of results for the major search engines, then I'd look at the next steps. Opinions vary so greatly between the "gurus" and such, that I'd straight away say read through the "promote or die" pages http://jimworld.com/articles/promotion/index.html of jimworld. It's what I used back in the year 2000, (admittedly content was different back then), but I presume the information is just as good today as it was back then.
Personally, and professionally, I still believe in starting with the basics. Such as: your website and tag line at the end of every single email, bumpersticker on your car, complete profiles everywhere you are active online, have a little contest (with your own product or service as a prize), use the announcement boards around town, at your church, mechanics, grocery shopping store (most have a corkboard for free community announcements, and yes... even logos on the kids clothes (yes, I do, and it's a partial tax write-off, too). Standard suggestions however are link exchanges, barter with an ezine (trade service or link for a short ad in their newsletter sent to their subscriber base), and even banners.
There are a couple theories if not more, about banners, some hate 'em, some love 'em. However here's how I see it. People can either use them and expect some glorious click-thru rate... or use them to get their website name into people's heads. So, I think IF you have an easy to remember domain name, something catchy that has a likelyhood for staying in someone's memory, use a banner exchange WITH a banner that has your domain name large enough to be seen. Nothing to flashy, the less artsy the better, with your domain name at a font size 12 or higher. (Not to be obtuse and put it at a font size 35!) Go for targeted banners over bulk ones, and mouseover your competions banners (when you see them) to see the exchange they are using... go there if you don't already have one in mind. It's a great way to advertise on your competitions website (but remember, they'll be advertising on yours, too). If your website is better, so what.
Those are all pretty much free, not including a little ink and creativity, but for paid options... delve into the PPC world, starting small of course. Oh yes, and Google Adwords is going nuts right now, so I'd read what the forum admins here are saying about it first.
Beyond that, if your website is fit for it, get services integrated that will keep people coming back for more ... like plug-in services from everyone dot net *I use their email service plug-in and have a bit more than 100 people using it. Every email that goes out has my website tag-line at the bottom... like "Email service provided by Yahoo!" only it's "Email Service provide by MySite.com" (for example). Something to think about at least... I'm sure they're not the only place that offers such a thing.
Oh yes, and if you don't already have a "Recommend Us" page and "Link to Us" option, get one FAST. The best recommendations (I think) are from people who the new visitors already know. If you aren't building the site yourself, or if your designer is a pain, I think it was HTML Gear dot com that I used for that... but it's been a while. Brave net offers a ton of services, too, and depending on your site/audience may be appropriate.
Last but not least, if your selling something, start an affiliate program. After I did, I'd never ever have another site that didn't offer some sort of incentive for other people spreading the word about my website. Traffic grows exponentially when there's more than just one person trying to tell the world about it.
Hm... I'm all out of ideas for now... surely some guru types have a ton of ideas, too. Hope this helps at least get your own ideas flowing.
*Cheers*

How have you worked out what your expected traffic should be?

Hi Wail,
I submitted URL of my website to many top search engines like Google, Yahoo, AltaVista, and Hotbot etc. Even then I am not getting expected traffic. Can you suggest some way so that traffic to my web site could be increased?

SUbmitting your site is not enough. You have to make sure your site is indexable, and properly optimized for keywords that will generate traffic.

hi harycalis,
build link pages.this can by done by exchanging ur site's address with other high traffic websites or outsource the link building. This will generate more traffic.but,if you outsource it,you will have to pay.
