I've submitted the my site in the several directories & SE.

Do the search engines like google, yahoo etc. give importance to TITLE & DESCRIPTION which are given while submitting the site?

Should the description must contain the keywords for which one wants to get good rank?

If yes, then I wanna know, if I would start targetting some new keywords(obviously related to the content) for the same site, then is it compulsary to change the descriptions on search engine directories?

Why I'm saying it becoz I've already done required SEO work(meta tags, body content etc) and still not getting good rank on the desired keywords.

Yes.
You want to be surrounded by keywords whenever possible. You especially want title tags and anchor text to your site to contain keywords and you have a chance to get the former right in directory submissions.

This will effect your position a little.

The title you enter for most directories becomes your anchor text. It is essential that this include your keywords. Ideally, your title should be the exact keywords you are targeting.

If you are doing a lot of link building, it is a good odea to have a few different, but similar keyword phrases in your anchor text.

Hi Sumit

I think now from above messages you know the importance of anchor text. Anchor text acts in your title and description. Also, now start links building for your site. Provide the information of your site to other site owners and describe them your own title and description to be posted on their links page. It will surely help increase PR in next update, not instantly.
