i have never entered into a seo contract - have doene some month to month deals but has never worked out well. mainly because i dindnt know how to specify details cause i didnt know what needed to be done.
does anyone have any sample seo contracts

I don't know if any SEOs are going to be willing to provide you a contract. I think the bottom line is you have to know what you are going to provide and simply spell it out in longhand.

here is what they gave me - what do you think?
The proposal for your website optimization is as stated
We will be doing your manul submission of main url as well as 5 other important urls and some of the other deep website urls to various regional and national search engines.
We will be doing on page optimization of your website main url as well as 5 other main urls like shopping.
We will be geographical optimization and submission and link buildings for you so that the PR of the site gets built.
The optimization of the website will be done on those keywords which will generate traffic for your website.
The optimization will not be done only on the main keywords but also on the keywords which are secondary so that all related traffic is divereted to your website.
We will be doing manual listings of your website to all free listings avaiable and where any paid listings will be helpful to you we will informing you the same and if you agree we will be making the listings of your website there.
We will be sending you complete reports of all the ranking and listings which your website will attain and you can check the same.
We will be doing your site all related keyword research and will also be concentrating on all area specific keywords.
We will also be studing your competitors website and doing research on their position and accordingly whatever changes your website will be needing we will be doing the same to your website.
We will doing free listings of your website also on some regional and small PPC so that your website gets the traffic on all keywords.Here the bidding cost is low but you get good traffic from such PPC.The main matter under such PPC is of labour involved and the proper keyword research which will all be done by us along with proper optimization of bidding cents which are given by the PPC search engines.
We will be sending you the details of all the free PPC listings of the keywords which we will be doing so that you can also suggest us the changes.
The main work of deep linking of the website keeping in view the geographical uplifiting of the Page Rank will be done by us for the main website url and also for 5 other main urls.
The whole work of the optimization will be based on 6 urls that is one main website url and 5 other important urls so in all this will comprise of 6 websites as all the 6 urls will be treated as separte websites and separate work will be done on all 6 of them.This means separate on page and off page optimization,manual submission,deep link building,Page Rank building and all geographical uplifting of Page Rank.

I could say yes and no, both would be correct and wrong at the same time. There are litterally hundreds of things that are not a part of our contracts simply because adding everything in would make the cost unbearable. We have to limit our costs to those things that we find most necessary to achieve the results our clients expect. You'll never get everything, just make sure you get the most important things.

Some of the stuff they are doing isn't needed, like submitting to search engines, and especially multiple submissions (either multiple pages, or multiple times, or both).
They are going to optimise your index page and 5 other pages. Not a lot of work involved there then.

I think "a lot" is relative. We do quite a bit of work simply to optimize 5 pages. Just about all of it we feel to be essential, and, depending on the site, it is usually no small task.
