Recently some of my websites lost rankings in Google. For example one of the site that had 2nd position in Google search results for a keyword searched over 10,000 times now is not even found in first 100 results.

The site had 2nd position for about 3 weeks and now is not even found in first 100 results for about 2 weeks.

Could this be because I got 100 links to this site in 5 just days and then stopped getting any new links? If so then how many links per week would you recommend to get to a new website just to play safe with Google?

Ron

There could be many reasons, but aquiring links "too quickly" is a possibility (but that must also be measured against where those links come from).

There have been sites that suddenly everyone is talking about, or perhaps something newsworthy happens and thousands of sites link to that resource, that have not been hit with any such penalty.

I therefore believe that it isn't just the number nor the speed, but who is doing the linking.

*I therefore believe that it isn't just the number nor the speed, but who is doing the linking.* Very important Ron. What is the nature of your 100 links ? Do they come from same IP? If you send me the url, may be I can take a look and suggest.
