If you submit a site to dmoz and if the category editor decides that it is good enough to be accepted, which it probably isn't, they will add it when they get the time. Again, dmoz is run by volunteers, and they work for free. There is no schedule. If you get in touch with dmoz about getting them to hurry up on your submission, my guess is that they will not add your site. That's what I would do if I were a dmoz editor anyway. (Copy Shortcut)

If you have suggested your site, then you have done all that you can do to make the next person to look at that category aware that your site exists. There is no need to contact anyone, they can only tell you the same thing. ()*There is no such thing as an average, as some categories are looked at multiple times per week, and others almost never - each editor finds something to do each time they log on, and then gets on and does it. No-one, that means not even the particular editor, could tell you what they or anyone else might do today, tomorrow, or next week; and (and this is importent) no-one inside the project (and especially no-one from outside of the project) can influence the priorities of any editor, at any time, in any way.
