Hi,
Does anybody have any experience moving a website from a free webbhost to a paid webhost with a paid domain.
How much traffic did you gain from google?
I would like to know how much google dislike free webhosts.
I know that most of the free webhosts are banned from google due to excessive amount of spam.
So I'm thinking that free webhosts that are new and gets indexed by Google, doesn't get as much traffic as
a paid webhost. Still free webhosts are used for blogs, forums, guestbooks and so on and they will be harder
to find. Not many new to the web knows that Google like to ban these and if they intend to use a free webhost
for a forum they will not get any traffic.
Sincerely
Andla

I switched over because it looked more professional and I then had access to good email management. Also I could add features like any CGI scripts.

I am not aware of whole swathes of freehost sites being banned for spam...

I did a test to find free hosts with subdomain.
Search on google:
"free hosting" "yourname.*.com"
For each hit search:
site:freehost.com
I had to search for a long time until I found one.
But of course you could be lucky finding it on the first hit. I will not test it now but I would guess that 1 of 3 is indexed by google.
