Hi, all. We want to use out main page title tag (which includes our main keywords) for each page on our site.
I've seen various theories as to what may be advantages to having different (and specifically targeted) title tags for each page on a site. If this is true, it seems this would mean one might be forgoing the possibility to get a better ranking for a wider range of keywords.
My question is: is we don't care about other keywords, and just want ranking for the two keywords that are included in our title tag, is it ok to use the same title tag for each page on our website? I.E. Will there be any specific PENALTY for doing this? (I vaguely remember someone suggesting that using the same title tag for multiple pages might be considered spamming).
Thanks for your thoughts.

The Title of the page is meant to be representative of the content on that page. You aren't helping your search engine positioning if the words in your Title don't represent the content of the page.
So, if your page title is not representative of the page content, it is you who is applying a penalty to the page - not the search engines.

The same title tag on every page will probably not cause a penalty, but it won't do you any favours. The title should indicate what is on the page. As each page is different, the title should be too.

Thanks for the advise, folks.
Just for your reference...our service is a very tightly focused niche. 90% of the people who find us through search engines will have done through searches that will use just 2 or 3 words/phrases. So, pretty much, our website is trying to optimize for these couple of phrases on *every* page on our site.

Then you should still have a unique title for each page, which reflects the (unique) content of that page. You could have the same keywords in each title eg:
P1 Title "New Car Guide"
P2 Title "New Car Prices"
P3 Title "New Car Buying Information"
P4 Title "New Car Dealers"
etc.
