I am trying to figure out how my competetor is doing so well in recent updates. It appears his or her back links are mostly blog spam. I would be interested i know ing your analyzation on this sites success

its official, blog spam is now what google is preferring in my industry for top key word results. Beating out paid links almost.

The blog spam is bot generated. The only way to stop this crap is to require blog submissions to include a means of verification at the time of submission.
The site owner is probably using a submission spambot to spread his/her link around.
