Is it necessary that keyphrases used in Title tags also appear in page copy?

Thank-you

If you're optimizing for search, yes - that's the accepted practice, and it works.

Not only in the page copy, but should have some relationship to the words found in the headings on the page too.

If you don't put your target phrases in the title tag, your battle for organic rankings will be incredibly more difficult, not impossible, just more difficult.

Unique title tags for each page of your site, with the target phrase located within it, will be a big help. A general rule of thumb is not to have the keyword phrase in a single title tag more than 3 times.

In a content page title tag is very necessary to promote site's key phrases and it should be appear in the title of the pages. But if your page content has over loaded with same key phrases then it will considered to be spam for your site.
