Breakout means that the term has been in a steady state, but has suddenly experienced a rise in popularity worthy of note.
Statistically a term may be considered a breakout when it moves outside of a pre determined standard deviation from the normal distribution.

This is great, but I am surprised that the actual search figures are not included seeing as how they are now available within the AdWords interface. Perhaps actual search figures will be integrated into this tool soon - if so, it will probably become the tool used by most.
