Hi.
Links are the most important and valuable for a website and just a few quality links for site may boost ranking.
What kind of strategies do you mainly implement for backlinks?
Please share.....

Does my site/page offer value(s) to this site/page's visitor? If yes, it's a go.
Would I still want a link from this site/page if it weren't for SEO? If yes, it's a go.
It happens that the sites/pages pass the second question usually are juice-filled sources
Periodic press releases do help in building natural inbounds - at least, it has worked for sites I've worked with.

Visitor & others
I have considered News Releases. But I am unclear about the kinds of things that should/could be covered in a news release. Would you please share the kinds of topics/subjects you have used to good effect in news releases.
Who do you use to distribute the news releases?
Thanks

Allow me to clarify...when I said press releases can be effective in building natural inbounds, I meant by providing content that's either (but not limited to)...
1. useful/informative
2. fun/entertaining
and/or
3. reminding events.
Naturally, there will be inbounds based on the premise mentioned above.
I worked for a magazine publishing company with various interests some years back. One of our magazines owned biggest convention for our industry, so we'd build inbounds around the press releases for the event, for example.
Naturally, press releases would reach ones in your 'neighborhood' Press release strategy isn't very difficult for an established content sites.
It's bit tricky to work in press release into natural inbound strategy for eCommerce. If you have something worthy to speak about (i.e. if your site just scored exclusivity of a popular product line within a vertical), again, it's not very difficult.
Contests/Sweepstakes/Polls (yes, polls ) can be used for press release strategy - just gotta be unique, creative and most of all, fun.
Just as an example,

Yes, they can. You just have to make sure you have the content on your site to back it up; the content must warrant a link. If you don't have the content, no one will link to you.
