CHMAN0024 I am jaded - my site was banned and I receive at least 1 phone call or email every day from disgruntled former Traffic Power customers, employees or business partners. Obviously I would tell you not to do it.
The facts are Traffic Power is a very shady outfit at best. The tactics they employ to improve your rankings are in violation of google's policies and should you go through with your contract you run the very real risk of having your site banned. That being said, those that haven't been banned (yet?) and have high rankings may be very happy - I don't know because I do not hear from those people.
I'd take a look at the referral list they gave you. I have older (2-3 months old) referral lists I'd be happy to email you where at least 1/3 of the sites they used as references have been banned. Call both someone with a banned site and someone that hasn't been banned and go from there.

I am sure that the credit card companies will cut of their merchant account abailities but who is to say that they will not have another person affiliated with the company open another one. I mean a lot of the sites that their link pool domain names are registered to many different people with the same address. Shadey companies like this will always find a way to jilt people of their money. I think people need to start banning together and take a stand with companies like this and get them booted somehow. It is good that this forum comes up when you type in their domain name but how many people don't bother to look and sign up without researching the company that has cold called them.
People should ALWAYS do their homework before going with any company. I mean they have people out there that are pulling credit reports and pretending to be Credit Card companies and jacking their Credit Card limits to the max and then the customer has to deal with the reprocussions. You should never give away ANY information about yourself unless YOU are the one that called that company. There is too much crime out there to do this anymore.
Thank you PAGEONERESULTS for clearing that up for me. But won't that page then index into a "301 page" as a search term or do you think there is a way to do something within guidelines to keep that 301 page coming up under site related search terms?

What's the longest running thread in the history of JW? I've been checking in for awhile and haven't seen anything like this. Just curious.

Hi,
I too have been approached by Traffic-Power and was somewhat impressed. However, I also was impressed with Internet Advancement. They turned out to be a big scam and I was one of the fortunate ones to get my money back. I am very leery about Traffic-Power but am lost in where to even go to get my website well ranked. It is something I feel I cannot do on my own. Is there any such thing as a legitimate company that someone can recommend to help me out?

b_evans, be assured that there are legitimate companies out there and there are some very good reliable individuals that do internet consulting that are not affiliated with any companies.
Just like in any industry, though, there are good ones and there are bad ones.

Wow... you guys saved my bacon.
Being a trusting soul, I very nearly signed on with Traffic-Power, but luckily managed to put them off and put them off... it sounds like finding this forum may have kept me from royally screwing myself and my customers. I hope to learn much at the feet of masters and from the mistakes of those who have gone before. (Sorry to hear about some of the horror stories on here, but thank you for sharing and warning the rest of us.)

Not only did you guys save my bacon, you saved my rump roast! I almost signed up with Traffic-Power and put them off until today. They have called me, I'm not kidding, 23 times today. Now the big question...if I tick them off too much, is there any way that they can hurt my website???

Just to let you all know, I just sent an email to the Better Business Bureau in Lost Wages and gave them the link to this forum. I told them that they should be investigating Traffic-Power and, at the very least, Traffic-Power is verbally harrassing people over the telephone, which is a federal offense. I'll keep you all posted as to what, if anything, comes from this.

"What's the longest running thread in the history of JW?"
The longest running thread is probably the one that started on Ezula & TopText (both scumware programs). I don't think we still have copies of that material since the forum switchover (most of it was very dated anyhow). That particular thread was about 15 pages of posts X 3 parts. Since then we've subdivided into a specific forum for that. The other long one that keeps surfacing every once in awhile is Top Ten Ways to Irritate your Visitors, but I'm not sure how long that one is right now.

Thanks for the reply bhartzer. So, If anyone finds or knows of a good and honest Search Engine Ranking company or individual.that seems to be on the up and up, I would be be forever in your debt if you could give me their info. The guy I talked to at Traffic-Power admitted that there were complaints at places like this. BUT, He claimed it was people from other SEO's stageing complaints because they (Traffic-Power) were so great that alot of other SEO's were trying to keep people away from Traffic-Power.

Funny thing is that REAL SEO's companies don't even care what these people do because sooner or later people who do sign up with TP learn that it is not working and then goto the REAL SEO companies and they are the ones who have to clean up the mess.
It is a BS statement.....the only reason they can say that is because they have probably posted statements saying they are great in forums like this. (smiles)
By the by< i don't work for an SEO company....anyone else....LOL

Thanks, FMK. I sent an email to their VP of Sales and told them I did not want to be contacted by their organization in any way from anyone. It did not bounce, so I am assuming they received it. I think I'll stick with Overture when it comes to placement. I know it works, I can spend as little or as much as I want and I am in complete control at all times.

You may want to re-check your site which was "banned" from google.
Google admits to having bug which allowed sites to be removed from cache:
******************************************************************************
A BUG IN GOOGLE, now apparently fixed, allowed outsiders to remove web sites.
According to several reports, one of the first sites to suffer from the flaw in Google's page removal system was www.microsoft.com.
Once the flaw was discovered, adobe.com got the treatment as well, but we understand the hole has now been fixed.

Hi all. I'm a current (soon to be ex) customer of traffic power. Signed up a few months back. Only reason I signed on was that I was told I could get top 10 rankings for all the search terms I selected. Sounded great at the time. Fastforward 3 mos. and I don't have one single ranking yet. Talked to TP's tech department yesterday and was informed that I'll need to change my keywords to get the top 10 placements I was promised. The keyword list they gave me sucked. Who cares if you get good placements if the search term is useless?? Anyway, I'm cancelling my deal with them and would really like to find a good, legit, SEO company. Can anyone here please point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
D

{real SEO companies are just too plain busy to play games, but the writing is on the wall and if folks cannot read it - they are not looking hard enough}

some guy from traffic power called me at my home today and gave me a real sleazy used-car-salesman pitch! It was disgusting. I finally had to hang up on him to get rid of him! yuck! double yuck! You should have heard his pitch ... it was like he was a telemarketer.

Oh what fun this is turning out to be. So I was browsing around noticing all of the bashing going on about Traffic Power and came across a site that I am sure some of you in here are familiar with.
I am getting a little defensive that many people out there only think that SEO companies are posting this information in forums like this. So I am here to explain that the other forum may have some points that are most interesting the whole of it comes down to this:
How many people did not sign up with TP because of these forums?
Answer: A few, maybe even more who do not care to post here. But they did not sign up and THAT is the point.
Are other SEO companies posting in here?
Answer: Probably so!
Does it matter
Answer: NO! Why? Because it is plan truth and you cannot deny that TP's method of promotion is ethical in any way shape or form. It is even more disappointing that for all of the people out there that do their own work to promote there sites are the ones who pay the price for these un-ethical procedures along with SEO companies. They are being forced to do pay-per-clicks and advertising with Google and Yahoo! and such (who's pricing does not accomodaite the average joes out there....at all! Minus the directory listing for Yahoo!)
I am sure there are many people out there that do web design that have had to have come across this company and has seen how this system works and are not happy having to let that stuff sit there.
IT IS PLAIN AS DAY AND NIGHT PEOPLE, DO THE RESEARCH YOURSELF. I HAVE GIVEN YOU THE TOOLS TO DO SO IN MY PAST POSTINGS......
For example lets look at the man who posted his TV set and other personal items for help in getting their clients on the right track. He signed up as a reseller and TP walked right in and took over the accounts! DOES THIS SOUND LEGIT TO YOU! How would any of us feel if this happened to us! And to have to offer personal belongings to rectify the situation and make good with their clients.......THIS HAS TO SAY SOMETHING!!!
Anyhow, I have posted the link to this forum. I am not sure, however, how long it will stay will stay up because it could possible be construed as a direct bash to JimWorld (of whom I am a dedicated fan) but in the same sense I have posted on there in defense of it all because I am just utterly tired of people doubting what they read, there is a reason for these forums being on the first page of search engines.......IF IT WALKS LIKE A DUCK AND QUACKS LIKE A DUCK IT IS A DUCK!!!!

Personally i am glad there are SEO's posting on this topic. Once a site is banned a person needs all the ideas and support they can get. In addition, Traffic Power is ruining the reputation of the SEO industry, making it more difficult for those who are legit to stay in business. If I were an SEO I'd want these people exposed too.
My site was finally reindexed last week, as were a few other banned sites. Hopefully we will stay in the index for good. For those of you considering hiring Traffic Power, be prepared for a 90 day all out battle to get your site reincluded in the search engines.
Thanks everyone for all of your ideas and support.
