My 2 cents: I tried WebPosition 4 and do not like it at all, beginnning with its interface and ending with its advice. It teachs you to create doorpages! and is very dependant on third-party services like wordtracker and WebTrends. It's impossible to check keywords when wordtracker is down, and you have to pay over these services if you want to use them.

One more vote for Web CEO. Especially for new Web CEO 6.5 - they have added some new features and a great utility called Report Viewer that let you share reports with your customers easy and quickly

I notice I don't see Keyword Discovery on this list. Anyone have any comments on that tool?

I would recommend SEO Elite. The next alternative is IBP.

I use web-based SEOMoz. You can use some their tools with a free membership but if you want access to all of them you have to be a premium member. Does anyone else use this? Would like to know what you think.

If a program is mentioned here, then it is probably a good tool... but nothing beats experience. Sometimes you just have to do your homework, and you are here because you are doing just that. But don“t forget, human SEO wins (and humans use programs). Tricky, hu?

Well, not that I'm trying to brag about my site, but you do ask about tools. So...it will help you save hours of time in constructing a link directory for your site. Everyone needs links, and you need a mechanism in place for when someone comes to your site and wants to link up with you. More importantly, you need to be able to monitor those links once their up, and this is done with just a few clicks with the awesome backlink checker.
Well... check it out for yourself. I'm growing the directory right now, and I'm seeking serious people who understand the importance of exchanging links to get a high ranking. There is no circumventing the rules at Google and as you know...yes, Google does penalize for paid links.
I have no hidden agenda here, just helping people do better with their sites. When the site reaches 2000 registrations, it will go to a paid only subscription. For right now, you can get a FREE LIFETIME membership and pick your own link partners.

Ooops.
Link directories are out.
Reciprocal linking is out.
Paid linking is out.
You've picked the losing formula.

Hi All,
I would recommend using a combination of tools....
* wordtracker
* adwords keyword tool (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal)
* Web CEO (again another confidence vote for the software)
* Google Analytics
I need to emphasise, relying on these tools alone is a NO NO. You need to use these tools in moderation and use your brain to interpret the information. As a fairly exprerienced SEO, I use these tools to verify and confirm my initial findings, and aim to use the tools to automate my processes.....
Hope this helps...
Sharkeo

There is a LOT of tools listed here that you all might find useful: (http://gpsgfaq.googlepages.com/index.html#seotools)
Content
Why build one page about blue widgets? If they are your best sellers build some more, information about where they came from, who designed them, how they've developed, the future of blue widgets. Why choose a blue one over a green one?
Product Knowledge
Many people sell things that they know little or nothing about. Some sell when they only know "old news" and forget to keep up to date with developments. In some cases this is fine, such as teddy bears, but sometimes it can pay you to learn MORE about your chosen subject/service/product. It will not only improve your service and boost new sales, whilst increasing return custom, but also give you some great ideas for content pages.
Email
Email your customers with special offers and free information, let them know that you are the best in your industry. Don't buy mailing lists if you can help it.
Common Sense
Make sure you are still building your pages for your visitors and not for the search engines. Algorythms fluctuate constantly so there is no EXACT formula. Concentrate on making the sale when you get your visitors to each page - conversions!
