I'm intereseted in advice/experience with the above tools -- I kinda know most of what WPG does (but have never actually used it), but I'm specifically interested to know if PositionPro has a lot of extra true benefits that make it worth the cost. Thanks.

On the same front, I am currently using WPG and would like to know if anyone has another program that could give me the same results.

Also, I am looking for a way to get my comprehensive reporting online (or at least able to export cleanly into an excel spreadsheet). Any ideas on how I might be able to do this?

Thanks!

Hi, I am usning WPG since 2000 but only as one of our tools. Only using WPG would not bring the success to our customers as we do in the moment.

If you are interested in the english language market and you only wanna buy one tool - the choose WPG.

We also have long term experience with Addweb and Submit Wolf. They are growing to big now and concentrate on too much different afforts - their tools and search engine databases are getting worse. Updates only come up a few times. Search engine Updates should occur daily as my experience since 96 shows.

Well, my personal opinion is to not spend money on any of those programs and to learn how to do the thinking and optimizing yourself. smile

They have their places...WPG can be handy for doing rank reporting on the engine that allow for it.

The reality of optimization though, is that a computer simply can't make the judgement call that a human can. Algorithms and math equations are all fine and dandy, but keep in mind that a human being has to read, and want to interact with this site.

Plus, software is only as up to date as the latest version of a release...your brain is as up to date as you want to make it.

Software, IMO, can be a great way to save yourself time, but it's only as good as the person who is using it and as their knowledge of how to use it in conjunction with their own thoughts and input.

We have been using WPG just for ranking reports. Is there another program that can generate this comprehensively like WPG without having to pay for all of the other stuff?

I have been having problems getting WPG to get it to do what I want it to - like pull rankings from LookSmart. Plus, I'm paying for all of this submission stuff that I don't use because submission can vary.

I just used the digital point tool that was referenced in the SEO tools forum and it will do the tracking for me that I would like. Of course, a more user friendly version would be nice, but it's a pretty good tool nonetheless.

Anyway, I'm looking for the perfect reporting and trending program without a lot of the other fluff that you can get from the WPG. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the responses, but...we already went ahead and got WPG. Right off the bat, we need the rank checker and felt the validation tools could only be a bonus=,b ut thejenn, thanks for your thoughts -- I agree in the vein that it's basically just a tool to save time and do some reports that there's *no way* we would have the time to do manually.

I was really hoping, though, that someone could've told me something more about PositionPro...again, we already went with WPG because the entrance fee was very reasonable (low risk even if all we use it for is rank checks/trends)., But, does anybody use PositionPro's services? We're really struggling with Inktomi and will need to do some submitting I believe.
THanks all.

I have access to Position Pro via About.com (it's what they use for their site optimization and submission). I'll be honest with you, I played with it, on a limited basis, a few times to see what it turned up for me. I was less than impressed with the results.

(that's on the optimization level, not on the submission or tracking level, I haven't actively used those features) I'm used to doing my optimization based on what's in my brain, so I quickly went back to doing that.

PositionPro is pretty good size though, I imagine someone else here has used them and would have some more accurate feedback for you based on their actual use of the product.

We have been using free 1-Click-Ranking (http://www.webceo.com/freeware/) just for ranking reports. Try this tool - you'll be utterly amazed.

Hi Rody, welcome to the forums

Can you elaborate on what is so good about 1-Click-Ranking for the benefit of other users who haven't had any experience with it?

I just tried that 1-Click-Ranking, and I must admit it is pretty slick. Unfortunantly, there is no feature to export or print :, but for free you can't complain.

That WebCEO does look very enticing, someone call their contacts at Web CEO and get me a free copy wink

I've been using WPG for years. It's real good for the beginner, especially the page critic when you use it to compare one of your pages with that of a competitor's page. However, if you have a very competitive keyword, this will not be enough - you will have to go beyond it's recommendations. It doesn't help you with linking strategies, etc. I almost never use it anymore, I can now do a better job than what it recommends.

I just got a link for a product that is trying to take WPG customers. The product is called IPB3 (released by Axandra).

Does anyone have experience with this product? I was planning on downloading the trial version, but I want to know if anyone else has tried it.

Thanks!

IPB3 is a nice piece of software, but I still think WebCEO trumps it on features and usability. The good thing is you can download free versions of both and see which suits you most.

I have a question, is it worthwhile/possible using Addweb to submit to search engines such as Google? I know that I am better off doing it manually and only to the top engines, but if I use Addweb, will it submit successfully, or will I get penalized because Google doesn't like automated submissions?
