    Hi,

Could anyone give me some idea about how a search engine is created.

I want to give a search utility on my web-site. I would like to search for information on my site only. Is there some algorithm/technique available for the same.

I was thinking of giving each page an id and some keywords and storing the same in a database. Will this be an ideal method for achieving the same.

    Please do let me know.

    Thanks & regards,
    Cherag Irani

    Hi

You might wanna have a look at this script for starters:

There is also a good article on creating a spider here: http://www.searchguild.com/article6.html
