It must be new because google hasn't ranked it yet but this search: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=ConversionAnalyst
    raised my eyebrows a bit.

Certainly doesn't add to their credibility.

hmmm...that certainly does not, thanks! I really don't know what to think of all that. The firewall at work here will not allow me to click through to these sites, probably for good reason. If anyone has clicked through, do you see a sponsorship or mention of ConversionAnalyst on these porn sites? This is indeed troubling. But...in their defense, I had a demo of their software yesterday and it did seem very useful. I'm currently using a service similar to them that is highly known to all of you I'm sure, and to be honest it seemed better. Thanks for all your help!

Ok, before this goes any further, bashing a company on the basis of whether or not they appear in google search (which should not necessarily be a criteria for anything - Google is NOT god, nor are they the better business bureau!) - and they don't control how people do or don't optimize their websites.

But before anyone criticizes a product/service on the basis of that alone, you might want to first check that you aren't making the mistake, and put in the name properly - try "Conversion Analyst" instead, and you'll see that "engineready", the company that operates the technology pops right up without any issue.

I haven't actually USED the product, but about 8 months ago, we also demo'd it, and had extensive conversations with reps there - we were definitely considering it as a top choice for 3rd party ROI tracking - it had many useful features. But due to the costs, and a few other reasons, we decided to build our own custom solution instead.

So bottom line, if you've done your research, talked extensively to sales/tech reps at several of these tool companies, and compared value/features, then you're in a position to make an informed decision about which product works best for YOUR NEEDS.

That's not to say you shouldn't be asking for outside opinions, they're certainly useful. But this isn't the same thing as an "SEO" company that offers guarantees for top listings, and may or may not risk getting you banned - it's a tool/service you pay for on a subscription basis, if you don't like it, you cancel, it's that simple.

No 'bashing' implied. I have no experience with the software. What I normally do (the first step) when I'm checking out a new company or software is to do that kind of search. Not to find their site but to look for comments or reviews from independent parties.

perhaps I should have asked a different question rather than direct opinions of the company.

I currently use a service that actually controls/monitors our bidding based on two things: set max click charge / or a desired cpo. They have decent reporting, interface straight up sucks in my opinion. Also, i hate the lack of control I have over my bidding. So basically, I'm looking for a software/service that will allow me to see up to the minute reporting for individual keywords and their closing ratios, include path summaries, and allows for some tweeking in order to come up with interesting reports. but, allows me to have control over my bidding. I do not want this service to tell me ROI or spending, I want that to be my business. If anyone has recommendations it would be greatly appreciated. I've done extensive research on my own as you recommended Skiguide, but to be honest they all talk the same talk, you really don't know until you get in and use the service for a couple months, and by that time you could easily spend a grand and plenty of time to get it started. So I'm really just trying to save my time. Thanks in advance to you all!

I use it for one of my major clients. Has been VERY useful in determining conversion ratios for search engines, key phrases, and following visitor paths through the site.
I tried two other services purporting to do the same thing, and theirs was and remains the best.
I swear by it. (And no, I don't work for them.)

PS> It does not control bidding, just does what the title implies - Conversion Analysis. You setup campaigns based on the PPC engines/terms that you use. Very simple.
