    Hi all

Firstly, great site! I've been reading avidly for a few days now. it's a fantastic source, I hope this will be 1 of many posts... smile

I've been asked to write an application that will allow our clients to see how their domains are ranked on various search engines. While google has an API that I can communicate with easily using SOAP does anyone know if the other major search engines have such an API or tools as I'm struggling to find anything for altavista or yahoo for example.

Also... A little time ago someone showed me a tool in Linux that could detect what people were currently searching for on the internet. The results appeared to be in real-time but its possible there could of been a delay. Does anyone know of a tool or API that will allow real-time statistics on keywords currently being searched on?

    Thanks in advance

    Markchivs

OK I have been doing some research on this myself.

If anyone is interested I have found documentation on Altavistas technical documentation for their Internet Search Services (ISS) which can be found at: http://www.altavista.com/services/iss-download

stop me if this information is already available on this site. tongue

Hi markchivs, welcome to the forums smile

As far as I know the other SEs don't have free APIs available - you have to pay for AV's ISS thing I think.

There is a list of pages that offer real-time search statistics available here: http://searchenginez.com/spy.html

    thanks webmaster

I will keep looking and post any findings. They may be useful. It's a shame more dont offer it though even if they charge for it.

Thanks for the links, looks like theres some interesting stuff. I think Im looking for lower level information really though, but this is probably a good place to start

    cheers

    markchivs,

I've done a lot of research on this. Everyone but Google offer the APIs at a cost.

There are now several SERP reporting tools that utilize the Google API now. I developed one and can be found at seocount.com. But there are several others out there.

    Cheers RustyBrick

I suspected that to be the case. It's just finding the information. Have you got any links you could post for me? I'd really appreciate it as I have only found info on Google and Altavista APIs so far.
