I have a question, is it worthwhile/possible using Addweb to submit to search engines such as Google? I know that I am better off doing it manually and only to the top engines, but if I use Addweb, will it submit successfully, or will I get penalized because Google doesn't like automated submissions?

In my experience you shouldn't need to submit to Google at all (I don't even think their submit form feeds anything, it's just a placebo). If you've got links pointing to your site Google will follow them and index you that way.
I would stay away from AddWeb to, as IMO you're just increasing THEIR link-popularity by adding their link button, and all they do is an auto-submission to some engines, which is not really needed nowadays.

Cheers for the reply Webmaster-Toolkit.com,
I am actually just wondering if Addweb submissions to search engines (it says can submit to 100's of them) actually work. I hand-submit all of my URLs, but I just wanted to know if Addweb does submit, or is just a hoax.

I don't think there is any way that anyone except AddWeb can tell you if it's a hoax or not, but there are only really half-a-dozen engines you need to submit to anyway. The others are either fed by these half-dozen or are not used enough to provide any real traffic.
