Hi,

I am testing cloaking for the first time in one of mini sites that sends links to my main site. Since I know that this mini site could be banned for using cloaking, could that ban drag my main linked website? So, what I need to know is if SE will ban only the site using cloaking or all sites related to it?

Thanks,

SJ

It depends on how easy it is to associate your mini site with your main site. Some ways the search engines can ascertain this association:

1) Does the mini site only link to your main site, or to others?
2) Do the whois records for the 2 sites list the same registrant/address?
3) Are they hosted on the same server/class C IP range?

The only people who could tell you 100% if your main site would also get banned would be the search engines.
