demon is right.
Ude the google toolbar and find a website relate to yours. If it has a ranking of 6or higher ask its webmaster if you can exchange links with him. If he accepts you can be listed within 48 hrs.
Using the google submission form it will take you weeks to get listed. You need to ask the webmaster be sending him an email, being polite at the same time. You can try more websites if he/she does not accept. A great e-book about optimization is found here.
It will explain in easy steps how to get listed high in search engines.
