Hey I am just trying to get the honest lowdown on cloaking. I just got a new hosting company that has a cloaking component installed. The question I have is do most search engines ban you for cloaking? and what is the chance of one getting caught?

In my experience, cloaking will not get you banned unless you are serving irrelevant content to what a user would see.

For instance, if you cloak and focus on 'widgets' and your visible pages really are about widgets, then I don't see a problem. But if you cloak for 'britney spears' and your visible pages are really about widgets, then that is spam.

I personally do not view cloaking as spam unless you are serving irrelevant content.
