Hi,

I am quite new to SEO. I want to know whether there is a easy to use software that can help me submit sites to web directories.

Thanks

Kev

Submit manually - the automated stuff won't get you into the big guys, and doing it manually ensures you have followed all the rules for submissions.

Submit manually to the second & third tier directories, then look at the big guys like Yahoo. Submit to them, but don't expect a quick inclusion unless you pay the $299 fee.

DMOZ is important, but again, they take forever to list you. Submit once, then check with them again in 6 months. if the listing is not in by then, resubmit.

Thanks SportsGuy,

If I have to submit sites manually, where can I find a list of web directories to submit. Is there a website that lists all the second & third tier directories?

Thanks.

/Kev

Good advice above.

Submit manually. There are only 10 to 20 big sites you really need to submit to. Search out a few specialist-topic and local-area directories too.

Some sites don't list certain types of websites/businesses (read their guidelines) so you waste your time by submitting to those.

You guys are just so helpful! I feel I am on the right track now smile

There are something always confuses me. When i was trying to submit my site to directories,It asks me for "Title". Some site requires "title is precise with no extra jargon included". What does it exactly mean? Shall user the browser bar title, or the name of the company here?
Say my company's name is WayTech, located in Toronto, doing web design. If i use "Toronto web design" as title, will that be acceptable?

Please advise!

Thanks,

A lot of directories only allow the title to be the company or web site name because everyone was submitting "My Great Keyword Market Title"... just submit your company/website name unless they allow keyword jargon. By the way thats one of the few reasons it is good to have keywords in the domain - as they can then be included within directory titles with relative ease

You need a non-hype, non-keyword, title in most directories; so company name (and location if the location isn't actually a part of the category name that you are submitting to) is probably the best you can hope for.

Suggesting stuff like "the best website design available, expert web designers utiilise latest technology for discount site production", or stuff like "web design, coding, flash, keyword research, linking adawords, cheap rates" would be deleted or completely rewritten by the directory staff.

When I was submitting to web directories. It seems each search engine has its own requirment for the length of Title, description and keywords. I wonder whether there is a most acceptable standard regarding how many words i can use for Title, description, keywords etc. Any suggestion please?

Thanks,

/Kev
