I have used the old Atomz site search on some of my Chinese and Japanese websites. Several years ago when they were bought out by WebSideStory they offered an advertisement-free version of their service for $250/year. It sounded expensive at the time, but it's turned out to be a good deal. When I went to add a new site today I was told that they no longer offer the $250 deal and that their minimum price point was $5000. That would be fine if I had a bigger and busier site, but it falls outside the budget of my current project.
Could anyone recommend a site search, without advertising, that could be used on a corporate Chinese or Japanese site? Basically I need something that can handle UTF-8 encoded content and multiple languages.

I have used some simple CGI search on several English sites, but I've never been too thrilled with the results when it comes to the SERPs generated. However your post prompted me to take a look at those again. It seems that Fluid Dynamics Search Engine has Chinese capability. I'll give that a whirl. At least they have a working back end with keyword reports available.

I'm looking for a search engine that will search only the content on my site. I'm not sure how the AdWords keyword tool would help with that.
