I'm thinking of using RECOMEND-IT service to encourage my visitors to invite their friends. Besides RECOMMNDED-IT are there any other services that are good and

I just got a letter from Recommend-It saying they are terminating accounts. So I'm looking for the same thing ... can anyone help?

One alternative is the simple recommend us type of script that you can run on your own site. There are a lot of them out there, most of them are cgi scripts.

Basically, you just need a script that allows people to send an email via your web server to a third party. Take a look over at hotscripts.com. This is rather trivial but you will want to make sure the script is not easily hijacked by spammers.

hsplugins.com has a "Tell a Friend" script that works excellent.

We actually got it from them last week and have alot of our toolbar users using it.

What we are doing with it is after someone signs up for our toolbar contest....we send them right to the tell a friend script.....works excellent :D

Chances are using any service like recommend-it will in some way, shape or form screw your customers in the long run (most likely by spam). Implementing a script yourself would by far be the safest and best way way to go about it.
